Coram Office Now Open!

Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology Features Both 3T and Open-Sided MRI Machines in New Coram Office
Radiology Practice Opens 20th Location on Long Island

Coram, NY - On February 9, 2016, Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology opened its newest office at 347 Middle Country Road in Coram.  This is Zwanger-Pesiri’s 20th office overall and their 13th facility in Suffolk County.  Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology provides the most advanced technology to its patients, and this office will be the first radiology facility on Long Island to feature both a 3T MRI machine and a 1.2T Open-Sided MRI machine under one roof.

Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology prides itself on being a patient-centric practice and these two MRI units are the most progressive of their kind with the ability to comfortably accommodate almost all patients.  The 3T MRI system has long been regarded as the best medical imaging device available, as it provides incomparable images, short exam times, and is large enough to accommodate patients weighing up to 550 pounds.  The Oasis Open-Sided MRI machine can accommodate patients weighing up to 660 pounds and is meant to create a relaxing environment for people who cannot comfortably receive a standard MRI exam due to their size or fear of tight spaces.  This Open-Sided MRI unit also offers the patient an unobstructed view for almost every exam it performs, while still allowing for high quality images.  The new Coram office is the first location where the Oasis 1.2T and 3T MRI machines will be available in one location.  Coram will also offer CT, PET/CT, 3D Mammography, DEXA Bone Density scans, X-ray, and Ultrasound on the most cutting-edge equipment available.

Throughout the company’s expansion, Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology has become well-known for consistently upgrading their equipment and providing fast turnaround time of results.  They employ over 50 subspecialty-trained radiologists who only read studies within their field of expertise, leading to better and more definitive results; 80% of which are finalized within one hour of the exam time.  The results and images of exams performed at any Zwanger-Pesiri facility are made available to their patients on the Patient Portal, while also being sent to the referring physicians.  Patients can then securely fax or email their information to additional physicians with just a few clicks.

ZP Loves Hearts!

In honor of February, we at Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology want to remind you of the services we can provide you and your cardiac health.

CT Calcium Scoring
Performed in Lynbrook, Merrick, Lindenhurst, West Islip, Plainview and Stony Brook
Calcium scoring is a noninvasive way to view your coronary arteries and help identify the location and extent of calcified plaque
A buildup of plaque may indicate coronary artery disease (CAD) which can narrow arteries, reduce blood flow to the heart, and lead to an increased risk for heart attack
The scan is designed for undiagnosed people and can show whether you're at risk before symptoms occur

Echocardiograms
Performed in Massapequa, Medford and Smithtown East
A non-invasive and painless sonogram of the heart which exposes the patient to no radiation
Zwanger-Pesiri is ICAEL Accredited for Echocardiography
Identifies cardiac tumors, masses and endocarditis, as well as wall thickness, congenital defects and heart anatomy

Nuclear Stress Test
Performed in Massapequa
Measures blood flow to the heart muscle and evaluates heart function during rest and exercise
Determines the need for coronary CTA or cardiac catheterization
Identifies blocked coronary arteries and evaluates efficacy of prior coronary bypass grafts and angioplasty

Cardiac MRI
Performed in East Setauket
A non-invasive exam that does not expose you to any radiation
A cardiac MRI is used to evaluate the anatomy and function of the heart, valves and major blood vessels, as well as the surrounding structures and the effects of coronary artery disease
A cardiac MRI is also used when the results from a nuclear stress test or echocardiogram are unclear

Coronary CT Angiography
Performed in Lynbrook, Plainview, Smithtown East, Stony Brook and West Islip
Creates complete images of blood vessels in heart, as well as other body parts such as the lungs, kidneys, arms and legs
Detects narrowed coronary arteries which increase the risk of heart attack
Low radiation, no incision, no catheterization and extremely short scan times
Recommended for symptomatic patients with unclear nuclear stress test results, and patients with a family history cardiovascular disease
